BB cream, CC cream or Foundation? What’s the difference and which meets your skins needs?

BB cream, CC cream or Foundation? What’s the difference and which meets your skins needs?

There are so many lotions and potions nowadays that it can be difficult to know which is right to suit your skin. I know I have spent hours scouring the shelves, reading the alphabet of creams that stock the shelves. Is it natural? Is it vegan friendly? Cruelty free? Well worry not, hopefully after reading this article you will be more in the know-how of which suits your skin needs, with some useful tips and links to the natural market out there!

Foundation

Foundation is there for those of you who want full coverage. What does this mean?

It’s much thicker on the skin, so is likely to give a less translucent coverage, great for covering up more problem prone skin and scarring. The flawless finish foundation gives is perfect for nights out, with lasting wear and adding colour when the camera flashes. The best way to apply foundation is with a brush, as this will blend the makeup the best and give you an even amount of coverage all over the face. I would suggest using a primer or face cream first that matches your skins oil production, to give a smoother finish and prevent pores from clogging.

BB Cream

BB stands for beauty balm, meaning that it is basically a hybrid tinted moisturiser. BB creams are perfect for daily wear and light coverage. They tend to be the all in one cream, with primer, skin caring nutrients and colour correcting formulas. I would suggest using them for summertime to hide those freckles and winter as a protective barrier from the cold.

CC Cream

CC cream is like the superhero to BB cream, everything is wacked up a notch. They are perfect for the more mature skin, as they tend to even skin tone, covering age spots, but also have SPF to prevent any further aging. This doesn’t mean they’re not suitable for youths however, Robin Ashinoff, MD, the chief of dermatologic surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, agrees. "Prevention," Ashinoff says, "is absolutely the best medicine against skin aging. And that means staying out of the sun." So, by using a CC cream from an early age your just keeping your skin younger for longer. Being that little thicker than BB cream, CC cream is good to wear for a more natural look when you go out, your friends will notice the glow, but not the makeup – cheeky!

Where a BB cream under your foundation and it will act as the perfect primer, feeding your skin, but also evening out the skin tone ready for the foundation to sit upon so your skin will look smooth and lush!!
