Recycle Week 2023

Recycle Week 2023

Now in its 20th year, Recycle Week is the UK’s largest national annual recycling campaign, and this year takes place between 16-22 October 2023.

Part of the Waste and Resources Action Programme’s (WRAP) Recycle Now campaign, the initiative aims to motivate more people to ‘recycle more of the right things, more often’.

The campaign sees retailers, brands, waste management companies, trade associations, governments and the media come together to raise awareness in recycling more of the right things, more often.

The Big Recycling Hunt

The theme of this year’s Recycle Week is ‘The Big Recycling Hunt’, which aims to engage children and families in the quest to find ‘lost recyclables’ that too often find their way into the rubbish bin.

By focusing on commonly missed items such as empty aerosols, plastic cleaning product bottles, plastic toiletry bottles, plastic pots and tubs, and food tins, Recycle Now wants to foster a deeper understanding of recycling in the younger generation.

'Healthier and more sustainable world'

Harriet Lamb, CEO of WRAP, said: “The importance of this initiative extends beyond Recycle Week.

"By empowering children with the knowledge and tools to become recycling advocates, we are not only nurturing the future but also ensuring a healthier and more sustainable world for all.

“Join us in celebrating Recycle Week and empowering the next generation of environmental champions!”

How to get involved

1. Learn best practices

Learn more about which materials can be recycled, and the best practice for recycling.

The Recycle Now website has a wide range of tips and advice, including an amazingly helpful Recycling Locator.

The online tool enables you to search recycling facilities in your area for a vast range of specific materials and waste – such as batteries, paint, food and garden waste, and lots, lots more!

The tool also provides details of your domestic waste bins and what materials can, or cannot, be put in each.

What’s more, you can also search for your nearest recycling locations.

The Recycle Now’s Recycling Locator has fast become one of our favourite online tools here at Eco Natural Products – try it for yourself!

2. Spread the word

Tell all of your friends and family about Recycling Week and help encourage more, and better, recycling.

And don’t forget to use the hashtags #BigRecyclingHunt #RecyleWeek when championing your own recycling successes on social media!

3. Support sustainable brands

Choose to support brands and products that prioritise eco-friendly packaging and sustainable practices – like Eco Natural Products!
