Description

Root Vegetable Scrubber

The LoofCo Root Vegetable Scrubbers are hand-made in Egypt from the gourd of native Luffa Aegyptiaca plant with an Egyptian cotton string hanging loop. Made from a 11.5cm tapered slice from thin end of loofah gourd, we use the thinner end of a loofah as it is more aerated and particularly suited to this task. Approximately 6-8cm x 8-11cm, natural variations in size may occur.

A 100% biodegradable and great alternative to other plastic scrubbers made from synthetic fibres, which very often end up in tanks and therefore also are eaten by fishes or other water animals. Ideal for cleaning vegetables from the soil.

The Loofah Pad is comfortable to use, when used in water swells up to become a soft, spongy and flexible pad.

Each durable scrubber will last for long months and when worn out can be thrown to a compost bin. Each scrubber has got a handy cotton cord which can be used for hanging loofah. Comes flat.

Main benefits:

  • made from loofah plant
  • biodegradable and compostable
  • handmade
  • last for long
  • durable and flexible

Direction for use: May appear abrasive when dry but when immersed in water, it swells slightly to become a soft spongy and flexible pad. Fits neatly in the hand. A must-have for cleaning muddy vegetables. Use with water on wet skin of root vegetables with gentle pressure to lift off soil and debris. To keep loofah fresh between uses, rinse, squeeze out excess water, shake out any food particles and hang to dry from the cotton string loop. Occasionally wash in the washing machine or by hand. Last for months and when worn out can be composted.
