FAQs
What is the difference between cold pressed and light avocado oil?
Cold pressed (extra virgin) is unrefined — maximum flavour, aroma, and nutrition, with a vibrant green colour. Use it where the avocado flavour is a feature. Light avocado oil is refined and neutral — no colour, no avocado taste — designed for high-heat cooking where a clean, flavourless oil is preferred.
Why is it green?
The emerald-green colour comes from chlorophyll and carotenoids naturally present in ripe avocados — preserved by the cold pressing process. Refined avocado oil loses this colour during processing. Green = unrefined = more nutrition and flavour.
Where do the avocados come from?
Directly from smallholder farms in the Mt Kenya region, Kenya. Wonky surplus fruit — too cosmetically imperfect for conventional export but perfectly ripe and nutritious. Direct-trade partnership supports farming communities with fair, transparent pricing.
Is separation in the bottle normal?
Yes — because this is a pure, unrefined oil with no additives, the natural waxes can solidify slightly at cooler temperatures. This is a sign of purity. Give the bottle a light shake before use.
