FAQs
What is the difference between cold pressed and light avocado oil?
Cold pressed (extra virgin) is unrefined — maximum flavour, aroma, and nutrition, with a vibrant green colour. Use it where the avocado flavour is a feature — dressings, drizzling, dips. Light avocado oil is refined and neutral — no colour, no avocado taste — designed for high-heat cooking where a clean, flavourless oil is preferred.
Why is it green?
The emerald-green colour comes from chlorophyll and carotenoids naturally present in ripe avocados, preserved by the cold pressing process. Refined avocado oil loses this colour during processing. Green means unrefined, which means more nutrition and flavour.
Where do the avocados come from?
Directly from smallholder farms in the Mt Kenya region, Kenya. Wonky surplus fruit — too cosmetically imperfect for conventional export but perfectly ripe and nutritious. Direct-trade partnership supports farming communities with fair, transparent pricing.
Is separation in the bottle normal?
Yes — because this is a pure, unrefined oil with no additives, the natural waxes can solidify slightly at cooler temperatures. This is a sign of purity. Give the bottle a light shake before use.
