Biome Balance Sensitive is a four-strain live bacteria formula providing 25 billion bacteria per capsule — combining Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus with the exceptionally well-researched Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum. The strains work synergistically, each complementing the others' mechanisms.

Other ingredients: Rice Flour, Capsule Shell (Hypromellose & Gellan Gum), Anti-caking Agent (Stearic Acid).

Allergen advice: Free from wheat, barley, soya, eggs, milk and milk products, lactose, nuts, sulphites, celery, fish, shellfish, yeast and gluten-containing ingredients.

Directions for use: Take 1 capsule daily with a glass of water, ideally first thing in the morning. Do not take within half an hour of consuming hot food or drinks — heat kills the bacteria.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from light — preferably in a refrigerator. These are living microorganisms, so correct storage matters.

Cautions: If you are taking medication, have an immune-compromised condition, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, use only on the advice of a doctor.

Why delayed release?
Stomach acid destroys most live bacteria before they reach the gut. These capsules take about 105 minutes to disintegrate, so the bacteria are released further down where they can survive and settle.

Does it need refrigerating?
It is stable at room temperature in a cool dry place, but a fridge is preferable and will preserve the count for longer.

When should I take it?
First thing in the morning with water, when stomach acidity is at its lowest. Avoid hot drinks around the same time.

Which Biome Balance should I choose?
