Acai berry powder is freeze-dried from the deep purple berries of the Euterpe oleracea palm of the Amazon rainforest — one of the highest ORAC-score (antioxidant capacity) foods ever measured. These certified organic acai berry powder from Just Natural Organic have a rich, dark berry flavour with deep chocolate undertones — far more flavourful than most superfood powders, blending beautifully into smoothie bowls and smoothies.
Extraordinarily high in anthocyanins (the dark purple polyphenol antioxidants also found in blueberries, but in far higher concentrations), healthy fats (oleic and palmitic acids), fibre, and plant sterols. Naturally gluten-free.
Certified organic by the Soil Association. Plastic-free. Available in 100g.
Blend 1–2 tsp into smoothie bowls and smoothies. Mix into yoghurt. Add to energy balls. Use in acai bowls topped with granola and fresh fruit. Mix into overnight oats.
Recipe idea — Acai Smoothie Bowl: Blend 2 frozen bananas, 2 tsp acai powder, 100ml oat milk, and 1 tbsp almond butter until very thick. Pour into a bowl — it should be thick enough to stand a spoon in. Top with granola, sliced banana, berries, coconut flakes, and a drizzle of honey. The acai turns the entire bowl a stunning deep purple — visually as impressive as the taste.
Ingredients: Organic Acai Berry Powder.
FAQs
Why is acai so expensive?
Acai berries perish extremely rapidly after harvest (within 24 hours) and only grow in the Amazon rainforest. The combination of difficult harvesting conditions, rapid spoilage, and freeze-drying requirements makes acai powder a relatively expensive superfood. The antioxidant density justifies the price for those who use it regularly.
Is acai gluten-free?
Yes — acai is a tropical berry, naturally gluten-free.
How does acai compare to blueberries for antioxidants?
Acai has dramatically higher ORAC scores than blueberries — typically 10–30 times higher per 100g. However, ORAC scores don't perfectly translate to in-vivo antioxidant activity, and fresh blueberries remain an excellent, more affordable antioxidant-rich fruit.
