Goji berries — the bright red dried fruit of Lycium barbarum — have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years and are one of the most antioxidant-rich foods available. These certified organic goji berries from Just Natural Organic are naturally sweet-tart, slightly chewy, and packed with nutrition.

They are an exceptional source of Vitamin C, Vitamin A (as beta-carotene), iron, zinc, and the antioxidant compounds zeaxanthin and lutein — particularly associated with eye health. They also provide all essential amino acids, making them unusual among fruits for their complete protein profile.

Certified organic by the Soil Association. Plastic-free, home-compostable packaging. Available in 125g, 250g and 400g.

Eat straight from the bag as a snack. Add to porridge, muesli, or granola. Stir into yoghurt or smoothies. Soak in warm water for 10–15 minutes to rehydrate before adding to salads or rice dishes. Use in trail mix or energy balls alongside nuts and dark chocolate.

 

Recipe idea — Goji Berry & Almond Energy Balls: Blend 150g medjool dates, 100g ground almonds, 30g goji berries, 1 tbsp raw cacao powder, and a pinch of sea salt in a food processor until the mixture comes together. Roll into 12 balls and refrigerate for 30 minutes. High in antioxidants, natural sugars for energy, and plant protein — no baking required.

What makes goji berries a superfood?
Goji berries contain an unusually broad range of nutrients for a dried fruit — including Vitamin C, beta-carotene, zeaxanthin, lutein, iron, zinc, and all essential amino acids. Their antioxidant content (measured by ORAC value) is among the highest of any common food. Zeaxanthin and lutein are particularly associated with protection of macular health and reduction of oxidative stress in the eyes.

Should I soak goji berries before eating?
You can eat them dry (as a snack or in trail mix), but soaking in warm water for 10–15 minutes softens them considerably and makes them more pleasant in salads, porridge, and grain dishes. The soaking water is rich in nutrients and can be drunk or used as a mild tea.

Are goji berries high in sugar?
