Macadamia nuts are the richest and most buttery of all tree nuts — native to Australia, prized for their exceptionally smooth, creamy texture and mild, sweet flavour. These certified organic macadamia nuts from Just Natural Organic are raw, whole kernels with the highest monounsaturated fat content of any nut — predominantly palmitoleic acid (omega-7), which is unusually rare in plant foods and associated with healthy insulin sensitivity.
They are a good source of manganese, thiamine (B1), and copper, and contain tocotrienols — a form of Vitamin E with potent antioxidant properties. Despite their high fat content, macadamia nuts are low in carbohydrates and high in fibre, making them popular in low-carb and ketogenic eating patterns.
Certified organic by the Soil Association. Plastic-free, home-compostable packaging. Available in 125g and 250g.
Eat as a premium snack. Roughly chop and fold into white chocolate cookies or blondies. Blend into creamy macadamia nut butter or dairy-free cheese. Use in no-bake cheesecakes and raw desserts. Scatter over fruit salads or acai bowls. Toast lightly and serve with a drizzle of honey as a simple canapé.
Recipe idea — No-Bake Macadamia & Coconut Cheesecake: Blitz 100g dates with 80g desiccated coconut for the base and press into a lined tin. Soak 200g macadamia nuts in cold water for 4 hours, then drain and blend with 3 tbsp coconut cream, 2 tbsp maple syrup, juice of 1 lemon, and 1 tsp vanilla extract until silky smooth. Pour over the base and freeze for 3 hours. Remove 20 minutes before serving. A rich, dairy-free cheesecake that needs no oven.

FAQs
Why are macadamia nuts so expensive?
Macadamia trees take 7–10 years to begin producing nuts, and yields are relatively low. The nuts have an extremely hard shell (the hardest of any commercial nut) requiring specialised cracking machinery. They are predominantly grown in Australia, Hawaii, and South Africa, making supply chains long. The combination of slow growth, specialist processing, and limited global supply makes macadamias the premium end of the nut category.
What is palmitoleic acid and why does it matter?
Palmitoleic acid is a monounsaturated omega-7 fatty acid — rare in plant foods but found in particularly high concentrations in macadamia nuts. Research associates palmitoleic acid with improved insulin sensitivity, reduced inflammation markers, and cardiovascular health. Macadamias are the only widely available plant food that provides meaningful quantities of this fatty acid.
Can macadamia nuts be used for dairy-free cooking?
Yes — soaked macadamia nuts blend into an exceptionally smooth, neutral-flavoured cream that works beautifully as a base for dairy-free cheeses, cheesecakes, ice creams, and creamy sauces. Their mild flavour means they take on other flavours (lemon, vanilla, herbs) without overwhelming them.
Are these gluten-free?
Yes — macadamia nuts are naturally gluten-free. Packed in a facility handling tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, and gluten-containing grains.
Are macadamia nuts safe for dogs?
No — macadamia nuts are toxic to dogs and should be kept out of reach. They are perfectly safe for humans.
