Pecans are a buttery, richly flavoured nut native to North America with one of the highest antioxidant contents of any nut. These certified organic pecan halves from Just Natural Organic are naturally sweet with a smooth, almost caramel-like richness that sets them apart from other tree nuts. They are an excellent source of manganese, copper, zinc, and Vitamin E, and contain more than 19 vitamins and minerals per serving.
Pecans are rich in monounsaturated fats (oleic acid — the same fat found in olive oil), associated with cardiovascular health, along with plant sterols that may help manage cholesterol levels. The dark, papery skin concentrates flavonoid antioxidants.
Certified organic by the Soil Association. Plastic-free, home-compostable packaging. Available in 50g, 125g and 250g.
Eat as a snack, add to salads, use in pecan pie or pecan tart, press into the top of cookies or brownies before baking, scatter over porridge with maple syrup, or toast and toss with cinnamon and honey for a simple dessert topping.
Recipe idea — Maple Roasted Pecans: Toss 150g pecan halves with 2 tbsp maple syrup, ½ tsp cinnamon, a pinch of sea salt, and a pinch of cayenne. Spread on a lined baking sheet and roast at 170°C for 12–15 minutes, stirring once halfway, until caramelised and fragrant. Cool completely — they crisp as they cool. Excellent over porridge, ice cream, or eaten straight from the jar.

FAQs
Why are pecans so high in manganese?
Pecans are one of the richest dietary sources of manganese — providing over 300% of the NRV per 100g. Manganese is essential for energy metabolism, bone formation, antioxidant defence (as a cofactor for the enzyme superoxide dismutase), and the synthesis of connective tissue. Most people don't think about manganese but it plays an important role in metabolic health.
Are pecans and walnuts nutritionally similar?
Both are tree nuts with high fat content, but they differ in nutritional emphasis. Walnuts are higher in omega-3 ALA and polyphenols. Pecans are higher in manganese, monounsaturated fats, and plant sterols, and have a significantly higher total antioxidant capacity. They also have a distinctly sweeter, buttery flavour.
Are these raw or roasted?
Raw and unsalted. To bring out their full flavour, dry-toast in a pan for 3–4 minutes, or roast at 170°C for 8–10 minutes until fragrant.
Are they gluten-free?
Yes — pecans are naturally gluten-free. Packed in a facility handling tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, and gluten-containing grains.
What is the 50g pack for?
The 50g pack is a trial or recipe-size portion — ideal if you want to try pecans for the first time or need a small amount for a specific recipe without committing to a larger bag.
