Fer à Cheval, the oldest soap factory still active in Marseille, has for 160 years passed down the artisanal skills of crafting and saponifying genuine Marseille soap in cauldrons, following the original methods of the region.

The soap factory is a member of the Union of Marseille Soap Professionals, dedicated to preserving this age-old craft and ensuring the production of quality soap as defined by the Edict of Colbert in 1688.

To be recognized as traditional Marseille soap, it must originate from the Marseille area and be produced in cauldrons using the five-step Marseille process: mashing, releasing, boiling, washing, and liquidating. True Marseille soaps consist solely of vegetable oils, without any additives such as preservatives, dyes, perfumes, or animal fats.

Our green soap's recipe is simple: a bit of water, 72% olive oil, a dash of soda, a pinch of salt, and a generous helping of love and passion. It's a natural, living product, free from preservatives, perfumes, or dyes, and hypoallergenic, making it suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
