Scrub those spuds the sustainable way — this wooden vegetable brush from A Slice of Green is made entirely from natural, plant-based materials. It features two types of bristles working in tandem: soft Tampico fibres (from Mexican Agave — heat-resistant, elastic, excellent water absorption) and tough Union fibres (a blend of Tampico and Bassine from the Palmyra palm) for thorough cleaning of root vegetables, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and more.
Size: 4 × 13.5 × 4.5cm.
The handle is made from FSC-certified oiled beechwood, sourced from an independently certified sustainable forestry supplier. Made in Germany with zero plastic in the brush itself. Vegan-friendly, biodegradable, and built to outlast many cheaper alternatives. A straightforward, effective swap for plastic vegetable scrubbers.
Directions for use: Use with water to scrub vegetables and produce. Rinse thoroughly after use and allow to dry bristle-side down or hung up — this prolongs the life of the bristles and handle significantly. Do not soak in water for extended periods.
Materials: FSC-certified oiled beechwood handle. Bristles: Tampico and Union fibres (plant-based). Made in Germany.
FAQs
What vegetables is this suitable for?
Ideal for root vegetables with firm skins — potatoes, carrots, parsnips, beetroot, celeriac, mushrooms and similar. The dual bristle types handle both fine soil removal (Tampico) and tougher scrubbing (Union) effectively.
Is it vegan?
Yes — all bristles are plant-derived. Tampico comes from Mexican Agave plants; Bassine comes from the Palmyra palm. No animal-derived materials are used.
How long will it last?
With proper care — rinsing after use and allowing to dry fully — a beechwood brush should last many months of daily use. The oiled handle is resistant to cracking and warping from normal kitchen use.
Is it plastic-free?
Yes — the handle is oiled beechwood and the bristles are 100% plant-based. There is no plastic anywhere in the brush.
Where is it made?
Made in Germany by A Slice of Green, distributed by Green Pioneer.
